TAI LINHARES

I’m a Brazilian artist living in Berlin since 2013. My photographic work reflects about the action of time, using long exposure techniques to capture light and movement. The documentary essay “Mixed Race” (Parda, 2019) challenges the boundaries between reality and fiction, besides mixing analog and digital video techniques as well as using the computer screen as a story telling tool. However, I started my artistic career through my interest in traditional documentary filmmaking and realistic photography. Recently, I have released the data art project “named after Men”, which criticizes the naming of plants after male botanists, besides shedding light on the patriarchal and colonial origins of this practice in biology.
